Mark Walker: Too Extreme on Women's Issues

Statement

Date: Oct. 14, 2014

Today the Laura Fjeld Campaign was joined by Janet Colm, the CEO of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Central NC, and prominent Greensboro women leaders in the community who believe that Mark Walker's stand on women's issues is too extreme for North Carolina.

Laura Fjeld said, "Mark Walker is too extreme on issues of importance to women and families. He would make no exceptions and eliminate a woman's right to choose, and even go so far as to ban common forms of birth control. Victims of violent crimes, such as rape or incest, or women whose lives are in danger would not be able to consult with their doctor about their options if Mark Walker gets his way. Walker doesn't trust women to make decisions about their health care."

Janet Colm from Planned Parenthood Action Fund said, "I am proud to stand here today with Laura Fjeld in her campaign for US Congress. Her opponent wants to defund Planned Parenthood, yet one in five women have turned to Planned Parenthood at some time in their life for health care. Her opponent wants to ban abortion even in cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the woman. He would even ban some forms of birth control. The only controversy about birth control is that it's 2014 and we're still fighting for it!"
